We’re Walter and Elizabeth, founders of Incontro.

Our story began in Italy, where Elizabeth was attending culinary school in Florence and Walter, who is from Northern Italy, would travel to Florence to visit her. It was during that time—wandering through local markets, sharing long dinners in tucked-away trattorias, and taking weekend journeys through vineyards, lakes, and small Italian towns—that we discovered a shared love for travel rooted in culture, cuisine, and meaningful connection.

Some of our favorite memories were never the ones carefully planned. They were the quieter moments along the way: finding hidden cafés down narrow streets, lingering over wine as the evening stretched on, meeting locals who made a place feel personal, and experiencing destinations at a slower, more intentional pace.

As we continued traveling together throughout Italy and beyond, we found ourselves continually drawn to experiences that felt authentic, immersive, and deeply connected to place. Those moments became the inspiration behind Incontro. In Italian, incontro means “encounter” or “meeting,” and that idea is at the heart of everything we create.
